Every few weeks someone asks me about partner codes. Same question every time: do you get discounted fees or free trading?
No. AvaTrade charges zero commission on forex. You pay the spread. The spread is the fee. A partner code doesn't change that.
What 128979 does is unlock the welcome bonus. Additional trading capital depending on your deposit. Nothing more complicated than that.
Bonus amounts?
A $1,000 deposit gets you $200.
Deposit $2,000 for $400 bonus.
Deposits between $5,000 and $9,999 get $1,000.
Top tier is $14,000 on deposits over $100,000. Most people won't hit that.
UK accounts start at £160 for £800 deposited. Scales up to £11,200 maximum.
Account minimum is $100. Minimum for any bonus is $1,000.
The code field isn't obvious
During registration. After you enter your phone number, look for small text that says "Have a Partner Code?" with an arrow next to it. Click on that text. A field drops down. Type **128979**.
People overlook it constantly because it's hidden.
Sometimes it shows as invalid, don't worry. Finish signing up. Reach out to your account manager first. Tell them you want 128979 applied. Standard practice for them.
Bonus withdrawal conditions
A trading volume condition applies.
Roughly 10,000 units traded per $1 bonus. You'd need to trade 2,000,000 units to unlock a $200 bonus. Slower if you're trading micro lots. Regular trading gets you here there sooner than you'd expect.
Your deposit is yours. Withdraw it whenever you want. Bonus funds remain locked until volume is met.
Something useful to understand: while the bonus is locked, it still counts toward your margin. Allows for slightly larger trades. Newer traders benefit from that extra cushion.
